Both Hands Project

Last Saturday, June 4, many friends and family gathered to work on a widow's home to bless her with some needed repair and sprucing up of her home that with the help of many was possible.  This widow; Andrea, has become a friend to Doug and I through this process.  Andrea has three wonderful children, who, along with Andrea helped through out the day.

Doug and I delivered many items to Andrea's home on Friday evening to prepare for our project day.  On Saturday morning, bright and early at 8:00am, about 25 friends and family met at the house to work.

The house with many items moved outside so we could paint
There was endless activity though out the day.  many people worked many long hours and painted, patched, repaired, replaced, mulched, planted, trimmed, and cleaned.  The bathroom was the major project and thankfully the neighbors were kind enough to let people use their bathroom as the only bathroom at Andrea's was being repaired!

By 8:00pm, we had to call it quits for the night.  Some of the spakle refused to dry due to the high humidity, and there was a strong thunderstorm rolling in.  Many of us quickly gathered supplies to get them under cover before the rain rolled in.  I thought I would be "smart" and carry a 6x6 piece of plywood in.  One problem, it was VERY windy, and for a moment, I thought I was in a scene from Mary Poppins!

We had a wonderful, long day.  Doug and I feel truly blessed to have been able to help a worthy family in our community.
Thank you to anyone who supported us in any way during our project!  For those who sent out letters, prayed for our team during the work day, watched our children so that we could work, prepared food for the team, those who spent countless hours volunteering, and all of you who donated financially.
