Two Mamas

Last week we committed to pursue the adoption of a little girl in Ukraine. Her name is Nastya. Nastya in Ukraine is a nickname for Anastasia. She will be 2 in January. We are excited and ready to get started on updating our home study.

As luck would have it, the contact in Ukraine went to Nastya's orphanage this week, so the lady was able to tell the director that there is a family interested in making Nastya part of their family!! While she was there, she took a couple pictures of our little princess! My how she has grown since the first picture we had seen of her!

There is word that Nastya's mother still comes to visit her. My first thought was "Oh, gracious, here we go again!" We have been through this before and it turned out, well, not as we had planned, but still good. So after a deep breath, and a long prayer, I am sure HE has put this little lady in our heart for a reason and everything will work out! Someday we will be able to tell Nastya that her mother loved her so much she did what she thought was best for her, by giving her a family that could take care of her....and while she waited for her forever family, she came to visit her. So Nastya has two Mamas.

The contact in Ukraine was going to take a family profile from us to the orphanage director to share with Nastya's mom when she visits. In our family profile, we talked about our family and Hannah and our experience with children with DS. We included pictures of Aunt Amy with Hannah. Hopefully Nastya's mom will realize that we will love her daughter Nastya as our own and provide her with every opportunity to help her grow and develop.

I am so in love. Look at hose chubby little fingers!!! Ooooohhhh! It is nights like tonight that I feel anxious that things don't get done quicker! We can't wait to meet our little Nastya Zoe!

Congratulations! Aren't the first pictures the most precious? We'll be praying for your family.
