Sleepy Sunday~Serbia, day 4

It seems like we are worlds away from home. Oh that's right, we are far away from home! It is weird coming home, eating lunch, then sitting down at the computer to realize that it is the wee hours of the morning in Ohio!

Mila was fairly quiet this morning during our visit. We played with her outside today. She sat in the swing and took in the outdoor world around her. I think she is working so hard to observe everything around her, she is almost on sensory overload. There were children out playing on the second floor terrace and she was happy to watch and listen to them play. Sometimes we enjoy just watching her process the world around her and admire and are in awe of all she has to learn through what she sees, hears, and smells. She sat and looked at her book with us for a little while, but she was basically happy just sitting in one of our laps and observing the world around her. Doug and I both got in some good cuddle time this morning.

While she was on my lap, I sat her facing me with her feet between my legs. There were children playing behind me, and she is just nosy enough, that while holding my hands, she could go from a squatting position to standing, just to see what was going on behind me. She doesn't stand for long before her knees buckle, but she continued to try over and over again, just to see the commotion behind me! I think with more practice and some extra loving pushes from Mama, she will make strides in her abilities.

A stinky diaper ended our visit a little earlier than expected. We handed her to a kind lady and sadly all I could do is point to Mila's diaper, then hold my nose. Not overly polite, but gestures are sometimes the only way to communicate when two people don't speak the same language. She didn't motion for us to wait, rather just helped Mila wave. Tomorrow the orphanage will be back to full staff so w will plan to visit Mila twice a day--once in the morning and once in the afternoon after she wakes from her nap.

We stopped into a bakery on our way home today and found some delicious treats. I am saving one for breakfast in the morning and one will be a treat for later!

It is now 2:30 here and many of you have just woken up from a good night's rest! Happy Sunday. We are missing church and our Hannah dancing and praising the Lord! We plan to take it easy this afternoon and then go out adventuring this evening. I would like to go back to the
Fortress Kalemegdan. We were there the other night with Vlado (who we are renting the apartment from), but I didn't have my camera. When he picked us up he didn't tell me we were going sight seeing!

That is great that Mila has the want and determination to stand. With your love and support there will no limit to what she can do!

The Bakery treats look wonderful! I will be sure to try them when we travel to get our little one.

Cara,
Boy, those treats look great! I just had to tell you I can't get your other post out of my mind! Descibing how you felt about the kids. Oh, how I prayed for them in church yesterday! I am so glad that God is blessing another child with a mommy and daddy! Thanks for sharing your blog!
