Pair of shoes

There is a pair of shoes by the back door that remind me of him.  A pair of shoes that his feet once filled.  Those shoes, plain and blue, white, and black.  That pair of shoes that Doug had to convince him were cool.  (He wanted something with a Spider man on them!)  As I pass those shoes each day, I remember to stop and say a pryer for our boy, who is thousands of miles away, but very close in our hearts.  The girls talk about the boy who filled those shoes, and talk about all the plans they have for him when he returns to fill them.

I miss my boy who filled those shoes.  There is a chance that his shoes could be filled very soon if his Mama gets everything sent an ocean away quickly.  Otherwise, those shoes will continue to be empty for some time.  There is word that the country is about to close adoptions for several months.  When they open, the boy who fills those shoes may need boots to keep his feet warm.

Will you say a quick prayer for the boy who fills those shoes and his soon to be sister, that our paperwork might reach their country in time and that they won't have to wait too long for a family of their own?

Oh how this stabbed at my heart! We had our own pair of blue shoes that sat by our own door for several months in 2009 until we were able to bring our boy home for good in January 2010. A year and a half later he has outgrown those shoes but I am keeping them as a reminder of the boy we first grew to love. I will be praying hard that you, too, will soon have soon your son home for good.
Blessings,
Alycia
